Zen Dental - Hygienist

Children - Start your children's Gum and Teeth hygiene early in life, Special Price for Children up to 14 years of age of £20

Life long Preventative Care for both your teeth and gums starts with regular hygiene visits.

Our hygienist will focus on improving and maintaining the health of your gums and the long- term condition of your teeth through our Advanced Preventative Care program.

What is the Advanced Preventative Care Program?

Research has shown that around 10% of any population is prone to chronic gum disease which results in the loss of several and eventually all the teeth.

Under the Standard Level of Care, we can provide frequent visits to treat the disease in these people and thereby hinder its progress.

However, through our in-house questionnaires we have found that preventing gum disease is high on our patients list of priorities.  We also understand that preventing tooth decay is also important to you.

Therefore, our practice has developed a program that entails visiting our hygienist, every 3 months to both thoroughly clean the teeth and apply a preventative fluoride varnish to those surfaces of the teeth most at risk from decay.

What is the advantage of this program?

Through regular visits to the hygienist, the level of plaque and calculus / tartar build up on the teeth is greatly reduced.

Plaque is the cause of gum disease. It forms a soft, white furry film that coats the teeth.

Therefore, with regular plaque removal, not only are we preventing the attack of gum disease but we are making the mouth feel cleaner and fresher, and easier to maintain.

The fluoride varnish kills the bacteria that cause tooth decay. It also enables enamel to reform in a harder condition in those areas where decay has already started to form, only if it’s caught early enough.

In addition, the hygienist can show you effective brushing techniques, how to manage interdental spaces and advise on the best products.

The dentist and hygienist will advise a number of medicaments and varnishes that can reduce sensitivity. You may need a number of visits to completely solve the problem, but the first visit will give you enormous relief.

Finally we encourge an interactive approuch to your programme. We expect you to inform the hygienist any special, demanding or difficulty you may be experiencing at home with your regular maintanance. We are delighted to help give you taylored individaul advise and treatment.

Top Hygienist Tips

At the Zen Clinic we take gum health and welfare very seriously, our resident Zen Hygienists  focuses on improving and maintaining the health of your gums and the long term condition of your teeth.

Zen Hygienists have many repetitive areas of concern that he will make you aware of, he will thoroughly clean your teeths' surface and apply a preventative fluoride varnish. He will maintain Gingival health and also ensure your teeth are firmly secured in the mouth. ( Gingiva are part of the soft tissue lining of the mouth. They surround the teeth and provide a seal around them. )

A one off visit is not beneficial as to be effective, this treatament needs to be undertaken every 4-6 months, this will remove visible staining, reduce the level of plaque and tartar build up and this in turn will help with Halitosis ( bad brteath ) and keep diseases like Gingivitis( inflamation induced by bacterial biofilms ) at bay.

Zen Hygienist will also offer advice on how to clean your teeth more thoroughly and what products are best for your particular needs and concerns. The fluoride varnish which is applied to your teeth kills the bacteria which causes tooth decay. It also enables enamel to reform in a even harder condition in those areas where early decay has already started to form and it will also combat sensitive teeth issues.

Zen Clinical Director maintains that 'prevention is better than cure' and that EVERY dental treatment is more successful when a good gum condition is prevalent.
